Seeking to hire a Chemical Buyer for a direct hire opportunity in Chicago. Responsible for purchasing/releasing bulk materials based on forecasted schedules, to ensure materials are available for production startup. This includes but is not limited to the selection of vendors, pricing, availability, inventory control, and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Obtain bids and place orders for all production requirements
- Generate and monitor purchase orders
- Supply accounting with a copy of the purchase order and e-mail/fax info to vendors
- Verify materials received are as ordered (correct materials, quantity, and quality)
- Postproduction and enter bulk receipts daily
- Update/coordinate bulk unloading schedule
- Notify customers/vendors of any issues and resolve them within a timely manner. If any problems with resolving issues that may affect the production and/or operation of the plant, notify the General Manager
- Expedite materials, if necessary, to ensure delivery for production
- Handle special assignments as instructed by Supervisor
- Maintain files for vendors/customers, with telephone numbers, address information, shipping information, accounting information, correspondence, orders, releases, and contact names
- Generate necessary paperwork for returns of materials that may be out of specification, overages, and damages. Distribute information to all departments that require this information
- Supply monthly reports to customers and internally when required
- Process memos, letters, and reports
- Review daily materials shortage report and advise management of any issues
- Wear all safety protective equipment required by the company
- Participate in regular inventory checks
- Cross-train with other employees in the department

Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred and 5-7 years of chemical purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Previous Inventory Management or MRP experience preferred
- Logistical tracking skills are a plus
- Proficiency in MSOffice, especially Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to compute, analyze and apply all basic math concepts.
- Excellent time management, decision-making, problem-solving and organizational skills
