Our Talent Advisors were engaged to fill a role to lead product R&D and mycelium-based, leather-like biomaterials, with the goal of developing the world’s best-performing and most sustainable leather. The Scientist was responsible for leading product development, experimentation, and design, as well as planning, executing, and tracking experiments.

Client Profile

Our client creates versatile alternative proteins to nourish the world’s growing population while nurturing the planet. Their research produced a more efficient production rate and complete protein than their competitors, making them the leader in fermented consumables.

Our Approach

Our Advisors identified a candidate with a unique background in cellulosic and carbohydrate polymers. This individual is also an inventor that holds multiple patents related to textiles and functional biomaterials derived from carbohydrate polymers and their enzymatic modification. He also had intensive experience in technical team leadership and customer/partner-facing collaborator experience. He was also well-versed in fungal protein expression, recovery/handling, and scale-up. Much of his BioAg research was focused on BioControl of fungal plant pathogens and effectively studying the effects of enzymes on fungal mycelial growth.

Client Impact

Over the past several years, our Advisors have been working with our client to staff their new, state-of-the-art plant in Chicago, IL, where they produce geothermal springs-sourcing microbe-based products. Our team has been secured as a reliable partner to help them reach their goal of doubling their staff with many talented quality, R&D, and scientific management professionals.
